Meet My Cores

No mean muggin', ain't no stank eye... Just 2 best friends doin' us!  6 Years and going strong, we met our 1st year of college - She's been there from the get... and honestly, she's been a  big part of my growth process. I learn a lot from this lady, she puts me in my place, when need be. Been through lots with this one, and thats why I keep her so close to heart, because she's beautiful, in every way shape and form. Thanks Jiggah - I love you , no homo! Follow her on her own blog (deejoyce on Blogspot)

Patrizzle! Yup.. Im sure you've probably come across her blog (http://www.patrizzle.com/) or browsed on http://fatlace.com which she interns and writes for- this spit fire has the biggest heart of gold i have ever come across. I've only known Pat for a short amount of time, but from the very 1st day, we clicked, like we were long lost friends that have know each other since the diapers years. I'm very grateful to have met this beauty and she knows i got nothing but mad love for her.

My lovely Lisa: Her and I have know each other since we were 13. We went to high school and graduated together, she's the tough one and never takes shit from anyone, even me! Aside from her tough-girl exterior, Lisa's one of the few people in my life that calls everything as she sees it and never hesitates to tell you as it is. Truthful, and feisty, she's is a smart, well-rounded friend that everyone needs. Always has everyones best interest at heart, don't fuck with her... or you and i have problems.

Teach me how to Tegi... Teach me how to Tegi.. well whatever dance you can name, dougie, jerkin.. whatever... this guy is your man. yeah, thats right, the guy on the bottom: John
John and I met couple years ago at Yote ( i know i know.. outta ALLL places!) kept touch and he's is for sure a core part of my life as well. I dont think you have met the nicest, polite, well-manered man until you've met John. I dont think he even has a "mean" bone in his body, and I dont think I've actually even seen him mad. John's the most genuine person i've ever encountered and gives me hope that there are nice guys like him amongst the assholes ( no offence) out there. He's been there at my worst and encourages me to be at my best and yes ladies, this pogi pinoy is single"! Muahahahah!!! Love ya Jo!

Homeslice aka Bryan: Now, honestly i dont really remember how we met... im pretty sure it was also at yote or clubbing somewhere. Anyways, He's one of my cores... why? well, Bryan's the motivated older figure that always reminds me that I'm a pretty rad girl that has lots going for me.. awww i know.. so sweet. He reminds me that good things happen to good people and that you can do absolutely anything if you put your mind to it. The older brother-like figure that protects, hahah becareful potentials... its 21 questions with this guy which is why i love him so much!

Marielle aka Yeng: hahahahaha oh man... she's the weird one, just like me! She's the only one that can tolerate my weirdness without wantintg to gauge my eyes out. I met Yeng through an ex and the rest is history. She's pretty picky about who she hangs out with so i guess i pass the test, because we still talk on a daily basis. I love Yeng's "In Yo' Face" attitude towards life and its refreshing to have kookiness around you. She's got the ambition like no other and is the only person i know that has more shoes than I do. hahah A great friend indeed!

So you've met my cores, they are all different in their own ways which is why i love each and every one of them whole-heartely. Thank you for being my backbone, and i honestly dont think i would be this amazing person you see here if it weren't for you guys! I love you all <3

XOXO Rosa

One guy I can never get sick of listening to... GRUM!

Electro house you say? Yeah, I'm real big on that as well. Mind you when i was introuduced to the up tempo'd type of music, I was 14, my sister took me to my very first rave ever, and it happened to be an out door rave. I had never really heard too much of the house music scene, but mind you trance and hard house were the big-up's during that time. So amazed by how there were different types of house music, lil me bounced around 13 different stages to explore with my eyes and ears. I still thank my sister to this day, for opening my mind to house music.
Dont get me wrong, I grew up with R&B, Hip Hop, Jazz, Rock.. you name it, but a little house here and there can't hurt anyone. I know... I know...  * Ushhh ... Ushhh .. Usshhh.. ushhh* ( while fist pumping), is more of an acquired
genre of music, and is appealing to a certain audience, But I like this shit! And Grum for sure is up there on my Electro house artist list!

Play the 1st track I posted and tell me it doesn't make you feel like your at Shine way back in the day in back room ??

Grum?? Who the F*ck is Grum??

Graeme Shepherd aka Grum, is a Scottish Electro/Funk/Disco House/ French Pop artist/ DJ that resides in the UK.
In 2004, he left his home town of Linlithgow to study Music Technology in Huddersfield, England and by 2006, this music student began emailing his tracks and mixes to bloggers and ... you guest it, the rest was history. He was at one point the 2nd most blogged on the web.

At this point, word spread like a cancer and reached the right people. Kevin Mckay of Glaslow Underground label loved what Shepherd was all about and tracked him down, then setting him up with his own little label called Heartbeats.
He started remixing different artists covers since 2007 and released his own singles in late 2009/early 2010 such as, Runway, Sound Reaction and Heartbeats to name a few. Earlier this year, Grum came out with his debut album Heartbeats (released May 2010), a 1980's inspired track list which is comparable to Daft Punk's  Discovery album.
Can't Shake This Feeling and Through The Night are his first two official videos for this album.

Lady Gaga, Passion Pit and Friendly Fires are known artist that have asked for his  remixing services.
He is currently touring the U.S with The Tweleves.

Take a hear at the tracks I've posted, I'm sure Grum will now be part of you playlist.

xoxo Rosa

The Secrets Out! Fast Food

Although we all try to stand clear of fast food joints ( and for good reasons), I had to share this will you all. Just in case you ever find yourself at any of these spots, try ordering one of these. I`m challenging myself to try everything on this list and I will update you on my blog and rate it. If you look, majority of the resturants are in the states, I frequent California 2-3 times a year so I`ve animal styled my burgers and fries from IN-N-OUT, ordered Arby`s wet fries ( Deelish!),  and made myself a mcgangbang via Mickey Dick`s.
Soooooo, if you do end up trying any of these, msg me and let me know.. HOLLA!

The Relationship " Hump" Syndrome

In my 25 years of life, I've been in 2 long term relationships and can relate to my friends when they tell me that," It's just not the same... The "spark" has dimmed and its almost blown out!" I can totally relate and say that I've experience this myself. The "honey-moon stage" is the beginning of the relationship where everything seems so perfect, you feel as though this other person that you have let enter your life is everything you could ever ask for, but over time, the good morning texts calms down, the surprise visit becomes infrequent  and those post-its that reads, " You're awesome, that's all!" comes to a halt - these are the little things that make you feel like the most special person to him/her... and once you take that out of the equation, it makes you wonder, " What happened ?" Although its really easy to feel the neglect, its one of those things you feel but really can pin-point the exact thing that bothers you- it's a sum of a whole bunch of factors that make you feel not so special anymore.

I came across this article on a blog that I follow religiously, and she explains how putting in that minimal time and effort goes a long way and will help explain that every relationship goes through this. Trust me, you aren't the only one that feel like this, and its up to the both of you to not only make this a good relationship... it takes 2 to make it a great one!

Good VS Great Relationship
By Amy Chan (via amyfabulous.com)

Men hunt and women nurture right? The concept of the man who hunts for his prey, spreads his seeds and conquers while the woman is looking for a caretaker, and a healthy and providing father is a story we’ve all heard many times.  While in this day in age, “hunting” may not be as aggressive as back in the day, the modern day hunt can be seen more along the lines of wooing the female during the courting phase.
A common complaint from my female friends is that a man puts his best foot forward during the chase and courtship.  In the beginning, they have all the time and attention in the world for you, they may wine and dine you, pay compliments and their words are nothing but sweet and complimentary.
But after time, when the relationship is solidified, and the man has “conquered”, something changes. Perhaps the man gets more comfortable and feels that there is no longer a need to keep up with the chivalry and extra effort, perhaps it’s just a natural progression of the different stages of love…
Of course, often the woman changes too. Whereas the first few months were full of lace and lingerie, easy going hangouts and late nights, fast forward a year and there then floods an influx of demands, routine, and sweatpants. Case of bait and switch?!
It seems as if sometimes, when you reach the stage where you’re comfortable in the relationship, there is a sense that “cruise control” is good enough. There is an idea that the relationship will maintain organically and subconsciously, and the amount of effort and energy once required to get the relationship started tapers off. This may work for some couples, however, what makes the difference from being just a “good” relationship and a “great” one, requires more than maintenance and reacting to issues. Instead, it’s being proactive and consciously making a daily effort to invest in the relationship. And in this day in age where your “I have no time” has become your mantra and you have more face time with your blackberry than human interaction, the choice to not let laziness or the excuse of the day take hold of your daily commitment is just that – a choice and a priority.
My friend told me, “relationships are like gardens.” – BV. They need to be trimmed, groomed, and occasionally, you see a plant or a fountain that just doesn’t fit anymore, and you move it, remove it or even replace it. The point is, the garden just grows wild and perhaps even with full of weeds if you don’t put the attention, love and care that is needed to keep it beautiful.
I couldn’t’ agree more. There are a few things I think are simple yet often overlooked when you hit the “comfort” zone of a relationship. Here’s some traditions I think make for great relationships and help harvest a beautiful garden.
Quality time – Make the effort and choice to provide undivided attention when together. While this may not be possible all the time, being distracted and non-present should be exceptions, not common occurrence.
Both people must be on the same page when committing to growing and investing in the relationship. If both people, everyday, think about how they can build the relationship and make the other person happy, the relationship will balance and flow.
Be polite and courteous. Never be derogatory or condescending even when joking around.
Give more than you take. Think of the other person before yourself. Putting yourself in the other person’s shoes is the seed to compassion and empathy.
Don’t go to sleep upset.
Treat each other with respect, love and care.
Say what you mean. Do what you say. The minute you break a promise, even a small one, you lose trust. If you really want something, you’ll find a way. Excuses for not delivering mean you just didn’t want it badly enough.
Greet each other in a loving and excited way. I learned this from Tony Robbins. He made the comparison to how the excitement of when a dog greets you and how that increases happiness. I see how that really can set the tone. Imagine every time you walk through the door your partner greets you with the biggest hug and smile? What a great feeling.
And of course, communicate. Even the strongest love won’t prevail if there isn’t a healthy exchange of communication that is based in love and honesty, not pride and ego.

Rated Out of 5 stars: ****1/2

I've been a great fan of Donell Jones, I think I fell in love with his voice when him and Left-Eye Lopez from TLC came out with their hit " You Know What's Up". With very sultry tracks and keeping to his roots of soft R&B, this 6th album is a delight, something you wanna listen to while soaking in a bubbly tub, lit candles all around and a rich glass of red. Or for the lovers... highly recommended as " Sexy-time" music- if you know what I mean. ;) Recently released September 28, 2010, run out and grab your copy, well worth it.

Here's a taste of the album, my favorite track called, " Love Like This". It kinda speaks for the rest of the other tracks. I'm sure it'll have you putting it on repeat like it has me. Enjoy!

Canucks Talk: SOB...The cute ones always get the boot!

Although, he only lasted a good 2 seasons, I have to say I'm a little disappointed that he isnt playing for us Canucks anymore. Known to frequent The Roxy and rumored to rail in the bathroom, all in all ... the partying caught up with him. Don't get me wrong, he's an amazing defense man on the ice, well... when he wanted to be. He showed his dedication to the team during play-offs last season, but I feel wasnt given a chance to show off his skill and was unfortunately given the boot.

"Last year, I stepped up when we had some injuries and helped our team win the division, and I thought I played with a lot of heart in the playoffs. Every time there was an injury, I'd play well. And when (the guy hurt) came back, I'd go right back to the bottom of the barrel. It's tough to play in this league when you know if you have a bad night, you're going to the press box. After two years, it was still the same thing. No matter what I did I didn't seem to stand a chance with that guy.
"This whole Roxy myth - my first year in Vancouver I did hang out there a little too much. Obviously, there's a lot of things I would have done differently. But the thing that really made me upset is you look around an organization and there's always stuff that goes on during the year, and they try to keep it behind closed doors.

"With me AV just went right to the press and buried me and that made it worse. Everything else that happens on that team they try to keep internal. But when he had a chance to bury me in the media, he did. He never seemed to have my back. I'd by lying if I said I thought I had a chance with him from Day 1."

WAH WAH WAH.. you all may say... but i think if he was given then chance, he would have worked his way back to being a great attribute to the team. Good Luck in Nashville.. I'll miss that SOB!

SPOTTED: A gorgeous bag by one of my favorite designers Olivia Harris

I saw this shopping a couple weeks ago when my friend Justine and I were just downtown Vancouver in search for some fall items to kinda spiff up our wardrobe. Not really looking for anything in particular, we both browsed around mainly for articles of clothing for work ( Yup, business casual) when Justine mentioned she was looking for a new wallet. We stumbled out way into Holt Renfrew and went straight downstairs to the hang bag section. With the Louis, Gucci and other high end leather bags surround us, the smell of leather kinda was overwhelming until... I saw in display , Olivia Harris`s new fall collection handbags, I ran over immediately to find the hobo bags of all hobo bags. The soft leather with the accent of buckles gives this bag a hard edge touch to a practical everyday bag. VERDICT?  Saving up a couple of paycheck... I HAVE TO HAVE!!!!

Paper Dolls- Cuteeees!!!

I was doing my daily Youtube browsing and was looking at to see if there were any great choreo's done by anyone to Katey Perry's new single " Teenage Dream". I'm not going to lie, this song are one of the songs that I have on my top 25 on the iPod. I came across the Paper Dolls doing a quick short movie  with some amazing choreo to the song.
Check it out, hella talent from 3 young ladies!
